Belly Dance learning is like being on a fabulous and exotic
journey. Belly dance movements and music have been shared among
dancing women and men throughout time and across continents. The
purposes of belly dancing are varied as the women that practice it.
Certain forms have been used in ritual dancing for community
celebrations and for public entertainments, or to explore feminine
artistic expression for the sheer joy of moving to the ancient rhythms.
Contemporary American Belly Dance is a hybrid of Egyptian, Turkish,
Arabic, North African, even Flamenco, Polynesian and East Asian
dance forms.
Despite American cultural bias, there is no particular age or body type
for belly dance. Life experience, both joy and sorrow, add depth and
soul to the movement. We combine in our dance with posture, body
strength, balance grace, brilliant costuming and the fun and fellowship
of our sister dancers.
The studio is equipped with the state of the art home theater system. Come to enjoy
