My name is Diana Godin. I have been studying Raks
Sharki (belly dance) since 1999. My mentors were Juliet
Raber and MaryEllen who are located here in the
south bay. My goal is to support, teach, and correct. I
am very proud to share this beautiful dance experience
with Cheers-Body and Mind.
Not only is belly fun! It is a healthy way to exercise. It
improves posture, muscle toning, and prevent back
pain. For those who decide to practice Raks Sharki
remember that holding your arms and shoulders aloft for a long period of time , is an important
element to the dance, even for beginners. Getting use to this will help you tone and perform arm
movements slowly and gracefully.
Guess how many calories you can burn by just belly dancing? 300 calories per hour!! Not to mention
the calories you've already burned through out the day. So, why wait? Come and join me in this
centuries old dance.
While listening to Middle Eastern music, let these body parts lead:
Drums- Hips
Violin- Shoulders
Accordion-Chest
Flute-Arms
Tips to remember before dancing: Posture, Core, Strength, & Repetition.
