Karen is a knowledgeable and enthusiastic instructor
who has been practicing Yoga and Pilates for over eight
years. She is a Certified Yoga Teacher trained at the
Samata International Yoga & Health Institute by Larry
Payne Ph.D., and is also a Certified Yoga Therapist
trained at Loyola Marymount University. She has
completed over 300 hours of yoga training that
includes, but is not limited to, coursework in human
physiology, anatomy, biomechanics, the musculoskeletal
system, and the biology of pain. She is also trained in
teaching Mat Pilates in the traditional “New York” (“Joseph Pilates”) method.
Her Yoga practice incorporates basic Hatha Yoga principles with that of Viniyoga
and Vinyasa techniques. Her skills come from not only her clinical training but also
from her experience working with and coaching individuals who wish to increase
their flexibility, physical performance and overall well-being. These include those
new to Yoga and Pilates (beginners), individuals who are in the prime of life, and
seniors. Karen teaches safe and effective classes in an atmosphere that is
supportive, fun and respectful of the individuals that attend her classes.
